Way down yonder on the Chattahoochie....

well, you know the rest of the song! :) We just returned from a 10 day Hartsock family trip to our old stomping grounds in North Georgia near Helen, Georgia...courtesy of Emom! I have many childhood memories of tubing, hiking, horseback riding, and panning for gold. It was such fun! My kids had a blast and I loved showing Rob the area. Helen, Ga is an old Bavarian town/tourist trap. It has THE BEST funnel cakes and fudge and draws people from all of the surrounding towns. It was funny to count the number of Harley Davidson's and tattoos we saw...TONS! We ate tons of country cooking which was yummy but very difficult on our waistlines :)! My grandparents used to own a home there, but they sold it years ago. We rented a cabin and it was a great location and was pet friendly www.smokerisecabin.com

Highlights of the trip:

1. finding large emeralds while panning for gems
2. eating funnel cakes 2-3 times!
3. boiled peanuts, fried fish and chicken
4. cheddar grits at breakfast and dinner
5. seeing the kids on a horse for a trail ride
6. seeing the kids hold snakes and feed the bears
7. tubing down the river with the family (Luke, Carys, Rob, Julie, Coursey, Papa Kevin)
8. peach cider slushies on a HOT HOT day.
9. hiking the Anna Ruby Falls in Unicoi State Park and the mountains
10. playing tug of war with Emom on the fourth of july
11. playing speed scrabble with mom, coursey, mom mom and dad dad
12. hearing mom mom say "koochie" (word in scrabble that my dad dad spelled)
13. seeing the non word, "sexecal," on the scrabble board again by my dad dad! (it kept us laughing for days)
14. smores around the fire pit
15. watching Last of the Mohicans for the umpteenth time
16. me and coursey's adventure to Atlanta complete with outback steaks and Eclipse!
17. watching my mom and cameron play
18. eating bacon and eggs every morning...courtesy of Emom!
19. watching the kids hang on papa kevin until there hearts content
20. spending quality time with the family and wishing we could stay all summer!
